Course Summary:
Veterinary nurses are trained to a high standard in order to provide skilled supportive care for veterinary patients, in addition to promoting animal health and welfare via the education of both pet owners and members of the public. The role of the veterinary nurse is diverse and includes technical expertise in carrying out diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, nursing patients and supporting clients. Although the majority of veterinary nurses are based in clinical practice, many also work in non-clinical settings such as education research or commercial environments including the pet insurance and pharmaceutical industries. Foundation and Honours Degrees in Veterinary Nursing aim to develop students' knowledge and understanding of topics as stated by the Quality Assurance Agency. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is responsible for overseeing not only the training of veterinary students but also the registration, professional competence, conduct and development
