Course Summary:
Successful completion of the programme leads to recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This programme combines the best in practical teaching experience with extensive degree level knowledge of Mathematics. The programme is for anyone who wants to teach secondary Mathematics. You will be taught by outstanding practitioners and will be able to take advantage of excellent learning opportunities in which you will cover subjects such as calculus, discrete mathematics, modelling and statistics. You will also be given the opportunity to combine theory and practice of subject knowledge and pedagogy in school settings and benefit from individually tailored support. Assessment Methods:
You will be assessed through work based on your classroom experience, showing your ability to plan effectively, undertake assessment and develop your subject knowledge. Your mathematics subject knowledge is assessed through a combination of programme work assignments, examinations and presentations. As you progress from observer to teacher in school, you will be assessed through lesson observation reports. Your professional development will be mapped against the Teachers’ Standards (2012) for the award of QTS.

Great place, with so many friendly people! There's loads to do, no matter what you’re into – you can hike in the Lake District or go down to the lovely beach in Sefton, or party in Liverpool or Manchester, all of which is less than half an hour away on trains or via cheap taxis. Ormskirk is a little small, but that’s the only problem! The teachers are incredibly supportive and friendly, and you'll have access to loads of helpful resources on your course.
