Children's Nurses deliver specialist care to children and families from birth to young adulthood. Become a Registered Nurse and practice in settings from intensive care units and family homes, to delivering care in global emergency situations.
As a student nurse you will undertake practice placement in a variety of settings including the new Glasgow Children's Hospital, community nursing and school nursing.
These experiences will be supported by theoretical nursing knowledge and practical experiences developed in GCUâs state-of-the-art inter-professional clinical simulation centre. A fully equipped simulated home and hospital environment, situated on campus, is used to provide opportunities for the development and practice of clinically focused skills in a safe, supported and highly effective learning environment.
You will also have the opportunity to undertake international placements. In recent years our students have embarked on placements in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Bangladesh.
Upon graduation you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Glasgow was incredible, I was genuinely surprised when I arrived here. Don’t believe the hype, Glasgow is a bustling metropolis with loads of amazing bars, coffee shops and markets (The Barras is a godsend for decorating your flat) to whittle down your student loan. Caledonian is also a lovely university – I was seriously impressed by their support services, they were very accommodating and helped me out with bursaries and applying for various schemes. They were really dedicated to making sure I was able to achieve my degree with the minimum of financial and health stresses, and I’m very grateful!
