BSc (Hons), Full-time Including Foundation Year
, Duration: 4 Years
At Keele University, weâre different. Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, we have a big campus but a small and cosmopolitan community. Weâre proud to be âUniversity of the Year for Student Experienceâ in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017, in addition to having been ranked No.1 in the National Student Survey 2014-2016. This is because itâs more than green and lovely, itâs a place of research and academic excellence too.
The Science Foundation Year provides students with the opportunity to study, in a university setting, the skills and subject knowledge required to progress to a wide range of science degrees. This course provides a scientific background customised to your needs as well as enhanced study skills. A choice of modules is available from the life, physical, geographical and environmental sciences; mathematics; computing and psychology.
After you have completed your Science Foundation Year, you could progress on to the Geography degree. The programmes are taught by staff with a reputation for teaching excellence and innovation. The first year provides a core foundation from which you have the flexibility to pursue a diverse range of specialisms within the second and third years. Youâll learn to access and engage with the latest research; utilise various methods to collect, analyse and interpret different types of data; devise and undertake independent research; and use specialist software such as GIS to address geographical problems.
Fieldwork is integral to the programmes with Keeleâs campus providing a unique venue for local activities. Residential field course options are a highlight for many and we offer routes that involve no additional costs. You will have access to excellent computing and laboratory facilities, the opportunity to study abroad and to gain work placement experience.
