Course Summary:
The Foundation Degree Leadership and Management (Beauty) is designed to ensure that you cover a broad range of modules, which will equip you for employment in leadership and management roles within the beauty sector. The programme offers modules which combine a range of theoretical and practical elements designed to provide you with the skills needed in the workplace, as well as the academic rigour appropriate to a Higher Education programme. You will be introduced to a range of concepts that underpin the programme and which are essential to operate at a supervisory and/or management level, within the beauty sector. This course has been designed to meet the growing demand for beauty professionals capable of leadership and management, and as such involves the application of leadership and management skills to the beauty sector. You are provided with the underpinning knowledge and expertise to progress either into the employment market or to continue your studies on the BA (Hons) Top-up degree. Part-time students will be expected to be in employment whilst on programme, and full-time students will be expected to complete vocational experience within the occupational sector throughout the programme. This will provide valuable experience, networking opportunities and a chance to apply academic study in a working environment.
You will study 120 credits per year of the course and the modules may include: Year 1 - Level 4 Introduction to Leadership & Management Professional Development Managing Resources Understanding Organisations & Environment Finance & Marketing for Managers Managing Customer Relations Year 2 - Level 5 Project Management Leading People & Performance Personal Learning & Development Work Related Learning Strategy, Innovation & Enterprise Managing Continuous Improvement & Change
Assessment Methods:
Continuous assessment ensures that your progress is monitored throughout the modules with personal tutor support. A variety of assessment methods are used, including presentations, role-plays, professional discussions, portfolios and reports. A detailed assessment grid can be found in the course handbook.
