If you want to study an undergraduate mathematics degree but don't have the required qualifications for a standard three year degree, this accredited course is designed to help. It includes a foundation year which covers the foundations of mathematics necessary for further study. Pass successfully, and you will then begin one of our undergraduate mathematics courses. Depending on what you choose, you could be learning more about algebra, calculus, cryptography, computational mathematics and more. Our in-house careers unit can also help you get crucial work experience. London Met has connections to major companies including Microsoft, CISCO and IBM.

This accredited four year extended degree introduces you to the fundamentals of mathematics before continuing onto one of London Met's undergraduate courses.
In the foundation year (Year 0), you'll learn the basics of programming, cyber attack prevention, computer networking and mathematics. We'll show you a range of mathematical techniques involving algebraic properties and graphs of the algebraic, logarithm, exponential and trigonometric functions. By understanding how to use precise mathematical arguments and solutions with the right notational and stylistic conventions, you'll be ready for further undergraduate study.
Our mathematics degrees are supported by a range of specialists. The staff include maths and programming lecturers, learning managers, academic mentors, success coaches and personal academic tutors.
When you join London Met, you'll have access to world class facilities. We have highly advanced CISCO labs, an IT security and forensics lab, electronics and microprocessor labs and creative technology labs for you to use throughout your degree.
We also have connections to major companies, including CISCO, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle and IBM. Our in-house employment unit provides you with opportunities for paid work experience, the emphasis being to develop skills that will improve your employability after graduation.
There is a continuous assessment approach which includes:

- individual and group assignments
- Diagnostic and other formative assessments will help us identify if and where you may need individual support

Year 0 modules include:
Cyber Security Fundamentals (core, 30 credits)
Design and Communication Skills (core, 30 credits)
Mathematics (core, 30 credits)
Programming (core, 30 credits)
Modules at levels 4, 5 and 6 are determined by the path you choose following completion of Level 3. Pathway options include: Mathematics BSc (Hons) Mathematics Sciences BSc (Hons).

With the campus in the lovely Islington, north London, you are right on the doorstep of so many great things here. The Kings Head Pub and Theatre has some of the best new shows in the city, the Union Chapel has amazing gigs in an incredible atmosphere. Camden Passage is nearby too, with lots of interesting things for your flat. Camden is of course a short walk away, and you can get down into east London on the Overground easily. I had such an amazing time living in London, really the best city in the world!
