Course Summary:
Manufacturing Engineers manufacture products to the correct specification in the right quantity, as efficiently as possible, anywhere in the world. Manufacturing Engineering is the discipline of turning raw materials into new products, and the research and development of new manufacturing processes, machines, tools and equipment. Manufacturing Engineers manufacture products to the correct specification, in the right quantity, as efficiently as possible, anywhere in the world. The Manufacturing Engineering (MEng) allows you to gain a detailed knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes, combined with technology management, business organisation and human resource management skills. Global growth of manufacturing industries presents a unique set of challenges to UK and international companies. Competitive edge and marketplace share require constant and agile investment in the latest manufacturing processes, research and development of frontier breaking new technologies, and the fostering of dedicated skill sets in many countries with diverse cultures and languages. This multinational business environment demands graduates who can demonstrate manufacturing technology and manufacturing management excellence. Manufacturing Engineers are required to link directly to Electronic Engineers, Materials Scientists, Mechanical Engineers, Product Designers, and many others, turning design into reality but maintaining product functionality. This course allows you to gain a detailed knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes, combined with technology management, business organisation and human resource management skills. It considers issues of manufacturing technology and processing, linked to manufacturing management, and provide an excellent platform for graduates wishing to register with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer or to progress to Chartered Engineer status after further academic learning. The transferable skills which graduates develop should also suit them to employment and career routes in a wide variety of professions.

Assessment Methods:
Lecture-based modules are assessed by a combination of coursework and formal examinations taken at the end of each semester. Project module assessments require written reports and technical presentations, preparing you for your subsequent career. In their final year, MEng students prepare a technical exhibition. The proportion of coursework assessment is approximately 30% to 50% depending on degree course, semester/year and optional modules.

Loughborough is an incredible university. The halls are excellent, clean and spacious, and the uni makes everything really exciting in first year with so much to get involved in. The sports and exercise facilities at the uni are really amazing too. There are so many great support structures and opportunities to join the union, as well as special campaigns, like Play With Pride, so you'll feel welcome and inspired throughout your studies.

    Loughborough provides a fantastic atmosphere for your studies. Am extremely warm and friendly place with so much to get involved in. The facilities are wicked! To be honest the UK university rankings speak for themselves! You can’t go wrong here!
