**Teacher Training** **Newman University** has an excellent reputation for training and educating **inspirational** teachers who make a **positive difference** to the lives of the children they teach, who are able to bring subjects to life through **creative and innovative teaching** that encourages a love of learning in their pupils. You will gain a variety of skills and knowledge including child development, education theory and classroom management which will enable you to put into context what you observe in the classroom and have a range of strategies to aim for outstanding teaching practice. Students have the opportunity to choose an enhancement subject. Safeguarding is also an important aspect in the teacher’s role and this is an area in which you will be thoroughly trained and prepared. In addition to the three year degree we offer a four year option, which is especially attractive for student-teachers who aim to progress into leadership positions within schools. This programme also includes Master’s level credits which can be transferred to the Newman MA Education. We have strong partnerships with local schools, which are particularly beneficial to our students for their placements and for future employment. You will be taught in groups which allow for a high level of support; in order to enhance your confidence and development as a teacher. - We offer further enrichment opportunities, such as optional field trips to work with children in The Gambia and Hong Kong. Primary ITE graduate employability is excellent and Newman University has a long-standing reputation with schools for producing outstanding newly qualified teachers. Core modules - to ensure that you have a firm foundation on which to teach pupils across your chosen age phases Broad Curriculum modules - to enhance your knowledge, understanding and skills across all the primary National Curriculum non-core subjects: Education and Professional Studies modules - to enhance teaching and learning, including consideration of: Classroom Management; Teaching Approaches and Strategies; Access and Inclusion; Child Protection; Specialist modules. Throughout your degree you will have the opportunity to specialise in one of a number of key curriculum areas.
