You will have the option to tailor your degree through option choice and leave with one of our specialist awards or choose to follow the more general BSc (Hons) Psychology.

Taught by experienced, approachable research-active staff who take an innovative approach to learning, you will develop an understanding of the theories behind the ways we think and behave, examining a wide range of psychology disciplines including; cognitive psychology, psychobiology, developmental and social psychology.
Lab sessions give you valuable hands-on practical experience and you'll have access to state-of-the art facilities including the Brain Performance and Nutrition Research Centre.
The work placement and your final year research project will develop your personal and professional skills, and graduates will be eligible to apply for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.

Your tutors will use a variety of teaching methods, which may include lectures, seminars, problem-based workshops, case discussions, practical activities, group work and tutorials. Teaching is backed up by a well-designed support system that will underpin your learning journey. You will have access to a Guidance Tutor with whom you can discuss any academic issues. Extensive feedback from both tutors and peers is built into the course.

You can start the day with a quick work out in the new £30m flagship state out of the art gym, then stroll across to for your first class of the day in one of the many modern lecture halls. For lunch the world is your oyster, unfortuntaely this is not on the menu but the students union does a sublime burger and a very cheap pint to help it go down! Once studying is over this is where the city really comes alive, with the university so close to the city centre you can plunge yourself into the way of the geordie nightlife!
