Qualification type:
  • BArch (H), Full-time , Duration: 3 Years
Course Summary:
Successful completion of our BArch (Hons) Architecture course is the first step to becoming a qualified architect, fulfilling Part 1 for the RIBA. Prescribed by the Architects' Registration Board (ARB) and validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), this hands-on, project-driven course is designed to help you develop your own design approach and style. You'll study in a studio culture that reflects a modern architectural practice, preparing you for your graduate career from day one. You'll be exposed to diverse aspects of architectural design, linking sustainability and urban design with business practice. You'll learn to creatively communicate your ideas through drawing, and explore spaces through model making and 3D visualisation, with project work providing opportunities to develop skills and experience. **Key features** - **Inspiring spaces |** You'll be based in our Grade II* listed Gothic Revival style studio spaces and work with our professional facilities, including a dedicated model-making studio, 3D printing and workshops for metal, timber and concrete. - **Real briefs |** You'll take part in live design projects, with creative briefs from real clients. Students recently worked with RIBA East Midlands on a temporary installation in a local space, UK house builder Davidsons on new housing developments, and Nottingham-based charity Growin' Spaces on an inexpensive eco-friendly build. - **Exciting trips |** Explore local, national and international architectural practice, with some great trips which are included in your course fees. Recently students have visited Venice and Barcelona to gain inspiration for project work. - **Expert staff |** Learn from an experienced academic team with years of experience in the architecture industry and expert technical teams from a range of specialist backgrounds. - **Exhibitions and Degree Shows |** Exhibit your work at our annual final year degree show and Architecture Exchange event, attended by architecture professionals, industry experts and potential employers. - **Mentoring opportunities |** Take advantage of our final year mentoring programme, working alongside the RIBA and local practices such as Leonard Design Architects, Buckenham & Co and Franklin Ellis Architects. - **Outstanding employability |** 93% of BArch (Hons) Architecture students are in graduate level employment within six months of finishing their studies (latest DLHE Survey, 2016/17).

Nottingham is an absolutely amazing town, with the best student club ever, the Ocean. You’ll never hear the Baywatch theme the same way again. There’s a really nice student vibe, a ‘friendly’ rivalry between Nottingham U, Batman’s house, and three pubs claiming to be the oldest pub in Britain (that serve cheap pints to boot). The library is also amazing, with loads of study space, and the SU threw loads of great events, and I joined a few fantastic societies that really helped me experience all the uni had to offer.

It is/has been great. The course is really engaging, I have met so amazing people and friends and the facilities at NTU and in Nottingham are fantastic. I joined the Hip Hop dance society in 2nd year and it's one of the best things I've ever done. I've begun learning breakdance and other styles and made some of my best friends at uni. There's a great relationship between FFC and the Breakdance society at Uni of Nottingham also.
