The course has also been designed to provide a foundation for graduate-entry medical school. A Medical Science degree from Oxford Brookes will put you at the forefront of health-related fields, including research and development. Our academic staff are engaged in ground-breaking research and, with some of the UK's best hospitals on our doorstep, you will have excellent work placement and career opportunities.
Year 1 modules include biology of cells, chemistry of cells, human structure and function, and skills for life scientists. These lay the foundation for the advanced modules in Years 2 and 3. Throughout the course, the emphasis is on the interdisciplinary nature of causes and treatment of disease. You will become aware of the many ways in which scientific knowledge is applied in medicine and other health-related disciplines. You will be able to choose modules to suit your particular interests in the molecular life sciences or physiological sciences. A particular feature of this degree is the option to select a modular pathway that emphasises the physiological principles underpinning medical science at a systems level.

Oxford Brookes was amazing! The campus was beautiful, really modern and clean, and the facilities there were great. Our course had a good mix of practical applied work and theoretical stuff in lectures, and it really gave me a deep understanding that I could use after my degree. Speaking of, the Careers service was also top notch, and they had loads of stuff going on that helped me walk straight into graduate employment. The student support services were also really comprehensive, with lots of financial and accommodation advice which helped ease my mind a lot.
