Course Summary:
The Plymouth Marjon University SLT programme is a regional programme and the only one in the beautiful south west of England. The majority of the teaching team were SLTs themselves and maintain their HCPC registration which means the teaching is strongly linked to an understanding of the demands of clinical practice. We are the first and only SLT programme in the UK where you can graduate already competent to work with people with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties as required by the NHS; this makes our graduates very attractive to future employers. Students will have the opportunity to attend placements across the whole of the south west region giving them experience of working in a diverse range of settings. For the final half year of this 3 year programme, the student is based solely in a clinical setting enabling them to develop an in-depth understanding of the clinical context in which they will then be applying to work. Plymouth Marjon Univeristy SLT students have gone on to work both nationally and internationally.
