Our Geography degree is perfect if you who want to learn about how natural and built areas affect our lives.
You can study a wide range of topics across the breadth of physical and human geography. This course will prepare you for many different careers, including:

â¢ environmental management and policy
â¢ tourism and heritage management
Our staff are experts in their field but also friendly and supportive. You will study in small class sizes, work in excellent facilities and do free fieldwork.

In Year 1 and Year 2, youâll develop your knowledge of a wide range of physical and/or human geographical issues, from earth surface processes and climate and environmental chnage, to urban sustainability, regeneration, geology and conservation. Youâll explore field investigation, data analysis and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
In Year 3, youâll have the option to take a number of specialist physical and human geography modules to develop an advanced knowledge of your subject area, such as Glaciers and Society and People, Technology and Place. Youâll also complete either a dissertation or a work placement project.
Our generous fieldwork provision is included in the cost of your tuition fees, so you wonât have to fund any additional costs. In Year 1, youâll attend a residential weekend field course and have a number of regional field days. In Year 2, you will have a week-long UK residential field course, and in Year 3 youâll go on a week-long international residential trip.
On successful completion of study, we will issue either of the following awards: BA (Hons) Geography or BSc (Hons) Geography, dependent upon your choice of pathway at the end of your first year.

Year 2 (compulsory): Global Challenges, This Changing Earth, Urban Worlds, Advanced Practical and Fieldwork Skills for Geographers, Geographers in the real world, Project Preparation and Planning. Year 3 (compulsory): Advanced Geography and Environmental Field Work
Geography employs an innovative range of assessments including essays, examinations and class tests, poster presentations, reports, logbooks, reflective diaries, data worksheets, oral presentations, video reports and web-page development.

Stafforshire has fantastic teaching staff who really do their best to help you. The union is very active too, and it’s a great way to meet people. Gobble and Super Friday at the LRV were such amazing nights, and there's so much in Stoke to keep you busy. There's not so much on the Staffs campus, although the food and facilities are great.

This university is fantastic! It has lots to off such as club nights in LRV and pubs such as Verve to have a drink with friends or if you fancie a coffee pop in to squeeze box, everyone here is super nice and friendly
