You must attend a range of lectures, small-group tutorials and hands-on laboratory sessions. Part of your programme involves a substantial research-based project. The programme provides a number of contact teaching and assessment hours (lectures, tutorials, laboratory work, projects, examinations), but you are also expected to spend time on your own. This self-study time is to review lecture notes, prepare coursework assignments, work on projects and revise for assessments.
One module in each year of your study involves a compulsory one-week block delivery period. This intensive problem-solving week, provides you with an opportunity to focus your attention on particular problems and enhance your team-working and employability skills.

I’m proud to study at Teesside, it’s a great university that’s really passionate about providing the best teaching and support for it’s students. I feel really well looked after and supported by my teachers, who helped me to improve my expression and intellect, as well as a responsive SU who do a lot for students, as well as throwing a load of great events and coordinating some amazing societies. There are loads of sporting activities on offer, and Middlesbrough has loads of things to do, with loads of great clubs and nights out in town.
