The BSc International Business is aimed at students who have an interest in developing knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of business and management, and in particular, who are looking to pursue a career internationally in business management. The degree programme is designed so that the first year covers the foundation elements of business management. Year 2 is spent working internationally at one of GUS's organisations in Dublin Singapore, Toronto, Vancouver or Berlin. Years 3 covers a management discipline, which you found specifically interesting during your work experience in more depth and in particular further develops your employability skills. The programme provides the intellectual underpinnings required for a career in a rapidly changing work environment, a rigorous approach to self-awareness and personal development and a significant exposure to the world of work and its current demands through work experience opportunities.
Through the learning experiences offered, and the skills and competences gained, students will understand effective managerial behaviour developed in todayâs complex organizations and turbulent business environments. Students will have an opportunity to qualify for the CMI Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management and Leadership. This is a good opportunity to develop the skills that are required to become ready for the workplace, while gaining a formal qualification and building a skills portfolio that you can show future employers.
The emphasis in the course design has been to provide this strong business degree with a focus on employability. The course offers an excellent grounding in knowledge of the key aspects of business management that are covered by a range of modules from the Management subject area. In turn, the degree seeks to inculcate in students many of the skills and competences in research, presentation, critical analysis, problem solving, team building and entrepreneurship, which all together should be helpful for future employment opportunities.
Students will study for three years with two semesters per year. In Year 1 , students will study three modules in each semester, making a total of 120 credits per year. In Year 3 students may study 6 modules as in yr 1 or one 40 credit module over 2 semesters and another 2 modules in each semester.
Assessment is designed to meet the programme and module learning outcomes both academically and professionally in formative form including the preparation and feedback from seminars, workshops, tests and presentations, as well as in summative assessment that contributes to the grade, including assignment, group work/studies, project and exam. My tutors, who are all qualified lawyers, barristers, and judges, were fantastic – intellectually sharp, organised, and offering strong content packed lectures based on their own lived experience of practicing law. They are also really supportive and always available for a chat. The Uni also has a wide range of electronic resources and journals that are incredibly helpful. There plenty of opportunities for practical placements, thanks to its connections to all the major City of London law firms, which is invaluable experience in starting a legal career.
