Course details
Course UCAS code: GG31
Qualification type:
  • BSc (Hons), Sandwich , Duration: 4 Years
Course Summary:
Gain a broad and balanced foundation of theory and practical skills in mathematics with a particular focus on statistics. This course is for you if you would like to study statistics but have a significant interest in mathematics. You'll be trained how to analyse problems and interpret patterns in data to make careful predictions about the future. In the first year you'll gain an introduction to university-level mathematics and statistics before focussing more on statistics in the second year. In the final year you'll choose from a wide range of optional units to match the areas you'd like to specialise in. These units are available across pure mathematics, applied mathematics and probability and statistics. As with all of our mathematics courses you will have the option to switch after the first year, so you can keep your options open when you apply. You'll develop solid logical, analytical and practical problem-solving skills sought by employers. This broad knowledge and set of skills will prepare you not only for technical roles, but nonspecialist careers such as computing, financial services and management as well.

Bath University - where, thanks to the name, some societies are called BRA, BUMS and BUST and being part of them is just as much of a laugh. It takes at most a 15 minute walk from one end of the campus to another, you'll pass the many things that the campus has to offer. The lake, the library, the coffee shop, the canteen, people singing and dancing, the post office, the shop, the bar.. you name it. The university came top for satisfaction in 2013 and the city is one of the safest places to be. If the uni doesn't have something the city will, and both are absolutely beautiful.

Everyone is so friendly. If you feel lonely, lost, or homesick or have any issues there are people here who are willing to help, and many students are willing to help you. It isn't as overwhelming as it seems, you can do anything you dreamed of doing. so far, it's been great, i've met loads of new people every day.
