This degree recognises and reflects the interconnectedness of the two subject areas, enabling students to explore and understand English language and media through critical and creative practice. The English language strand gives students the opportunity to analyse the structure of English and explore its use in a wide variety of contexts. In media, they engage with the fundamental concepts and theories necessary for a deeper understanding of contemporary television, film and digital media alongside opportunities to develop creative skills through fiction and factual video production. Students have the opportunity to spend a year studying abroad with a European partner university.

I would recommend Brighton to anyone, it’s an amazing city for students! It’s nice and compact, with everything in walking distance and loads of pubs, clubs, shops to try out. It’s a little bit expensive, but with budgeting you’ll be able to sample the best the town has to offer. The accommodation is only twenty minutes out from town on regular 24 hour buses, so the nights out never end. My course has loads of contact hours, with passionate and fiercely intellectual lecturers who give fast, 24/7 feedback.
