The first two years of this course provide a background in mathematical analysis, modelling, scientific computation and its application to engineering, underpinning more advanced material later.
In subsequent years you will have a wide choice of options from across engineering and mathematics to best fit your interests.
Real-world problem solving is a major focus of the course with problems spanning many different areas from robotics and social media to medicine and environmental modelling. These problems come from our industrial collaborators or address real challenges in current research.
The highlight is the final year project that provides a showcase for your degree. This is a highly creative, challenging and enjoyable experience that is excellent preparation for your future career.

Bristol’s great if you don’t really fancy concrete and a bustling metropolis – it’s a city uni with leafy streets, loads of independent shops and an intimate, community vibe. The city is kind of expensive, but if you budget properly you can stretch your loan out to have a great time here. There are loads of things to do in town, with a hectic nightlife and a great dubstep/drum and bass scene! The Uni is amazing too, with great facilities (the free bus onto campus is very helpful), and amazing tutors who were really inspiring and helpful.
