If you have a passion for literature, we have a challenging course that will inspire you in your reading and develop your critical and imaginative abilities. The English course at Cambridge balances a strong grounding in the core of English literature with the chance to explore literature from around the world, other art forms, the English language, and related intellectual traditions. You're taught by some of the most eminent writers and thinkers who, between them, teach and research almost every aspect of literature.

Cambridge is everything the Oxbridge stereotype tells you - it's challenging, it's grand, it's academically focused, it's stunningly beautiful and it's intense. But it's also everything the stereotype doesn't tell you - it's still a normal student experience. The town has everything you could possibly want or need within a few minutes walk of most colleges (yes, even nightlife, provided you don't mind cheesy music); it has student clubs for every sport, art form and interest under the sun (including an Ice Cream Appreciation society); and it's filled with the most diverse, friendly and accepting group of people you'll ever meet.
Overall, I would rate it as very positive. The facilities and quality of teaching are, in my opinion, unparalleled, and I feel as though I am learning efficiently every day. This is not a course, or a university, for those averse to hard and constant academic work. Coming from a middling state school, I was shocked at first by the sheer volume of work to be done, and this took some time to adjust to.
