Course Summary:
Portuguese is one of the world's most important languages, spoken in Europe, South America, and Africa. Study at the University of Edinburgh encompasses learning about the fascinating literatures and cultures where Portuguese is spoken, as well as the language. Portuguese and English are two of the most widely spoken languages in the world. This programme is designed to perfect your skills in Portuguese, the sixth most spoken language in the world, and provide you with a deep knowledge of the cultures where it is spoken. At the same time it will provide rigorous training in the history, structure and theory of the English language. You will also be able to study the Scots language which has its own rich linguistic and literary tradition. International culture flourishes at the University of Edinburgh, with a thriving Centre for Contemporary Latin American Studies, an annual Spanish film festival, an annual student-led Spanish play, and an annual Portuguese translation workshop, supported by the Instituto Camões Portuguese Language Centre. Our dedicated staff will ensure a supportive learning environment for your studies.

    The University of Edinburgh is a very easy university to settle in to, there's plenty to do in your spare time and the academics are very interesting.
