This is a broad business and management course, where you gain comprehensive knowledge of the main functional areas of a company. You study a wide range of subjects and develop your practical managerial skills to prepare you for a career in any aspect of business. Study areas include: business strategy; business creation and growth; organisation behaviour and management; supply chain management; marketing and marketing communications; accounting and finance and management and entrepreneurial theory. Group work tasks develop your team working skills and our business simulation project puts you in charge of your own virtual venture. In competition with other students, you develop your skills in problem solving, analysis and creativity as you make decisions to optimise your business' performance. In your final year, you put your knowledge into practice by producing a business plan, industry report or dissertation in an area of your choice. As well as developing the research and analytical skills needed for the workplace, you can take the opportunity to make valuable business connections by gathering case studies and interviews. Through our Q-Step Affiliate Status, we offer you the opportunity to develop your quantitative skills by taking a specialised degree pathway or receiving a student bursary to go on a quantitative work placement. Q-Step is funded by the Nuffield Foundation. BBA Business Administration is based at our Southend Campus, just an hour's train journey from London, offering superb opportunities for networking and internships.
You can tailor your learning experience to your future career with a choice of optional modules. More information about these can be found on the University of Essex website.

Essex was amazing! The campus was seriously beautiful, had many a lovely afternoon sat by the lake on campus trying to revise. There’s a great community feel here, everyone is very friendly and there are amazing support services at the Union. Be sure to pick the right accommodation – if you’re ready to party every night, stay at the Towers, where no-one ever sleeps! If you’re a quieter type, the South Courts are a bit more relaxed although there’s still parties to be had. My teachers were also amazing, and I had a great time on my course.
