**Fashion Design with Marketing is one of our new suite of courses. This course focuses on fashion design but adds the speciality of marketing making this course stand out from its sister routes - Fashion Design with Digital Technology and Fashion Design with Textiles. All students on this suite of courses study fashion design together, then split off for a time every week to specialise in the given aspect they choose.**
Having a creative eye and a talent for fashion design is only half the story. If you're going to make it in the fashion industry you also need to have the practical skills and technical ability to succeed. This course aims to give you a great head start in this exciting sector.
We'll give you the chance to focus on designing and making fashion garments, whilst also studying the marketing side of things, including how to create a brand and how to promote your products. While you're here we'll do all we can to build up your portfolio of skills, letting you try your hand at creative design, evocative illustration, range building and garment manufacture.
We want to give you the chance to become technically prepared to start your career in the dynamic fashion industry. On your course you'll be able to use a range of contemporary technology to bring your ideas to life, including industry-standard garment production machinery and pattern-cutting equipment, so you'll be able to choose the equipment you need to create your own unique designs.
You'll also have the chance to get a real feel for the fashion industry by taking an optional placement year during the course. You could get hands-on experience with a big high street name or in a small design house for example.
Our students have recently worked in roles including PR and marketing intern, design assistant, wardobe assistant and product development intern, with companies such as Urban Outfitters, Temperley London, Julien Madonald and Oxfam.

Huddersfield was a challenging and fun experience for me. The lecturers really inspired me to think creatively and forced me to consider new perspectives. The city life is ok, there’s not tonnes of clubbing but you can always hop on the train to Leeds or Manchester for a mad one. I prefer to hang out in the pub after lectures, anyway. There are loads of great facilities here too, the library is particularly amazing. The careers service is also incredibly helpful, I walked straight into a job after graduation!
