Course details
Course UCAS code: QV33
Qualification type:
  • BA (Hons), Full-time With Time Abroad , Duration: 4 Years
Course Summary:
This exciting degree gives you the chance to study two of humanity's most popular forms of cultural expression – art and literature. You'll develop a deep understanding of literature in English from the medieval period to the present day, as well as an awareness of how art has been produced and received. You'll combine core modules introducing you to the key approaches and themes of English literature and history of art with a wide range of optional modules, which span across nations and periods. The array of topics you could cover ranges from Arthurian literature to contemporary fiction and world theatre, aesthetics to museum studies, Buddhist monuments to the Danish “golden age”. With so many galleries and museums nearby, such as the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, as well as a vibrant cultural scene, it's a fantastic place to discover these two different but complementary disciplines.

Leeds was an amazing experience, probably the best student city in the UK. There’s no better feeling than whiling away the summers in Hyde Park with a cider and some good mates, and the nightlife is incredible – so many different student nights on, and the taxis are dirt cheap. A great bonding experience for all is The Otley Run – a 21 strong pub crawl that takes you into the city and how I forged some of my best friendships. In terms of the Uni, my course was amazing – loads of detailed lectures, secondary materials and passionate lecturers.
