BA (Hons), Full-time With Time Abroad (Arabic And Linguistics)
, Duration: 4 Years
**Explore language and become fluent in another world language**
Combine your passion for speaking languages with a fascination for how they work, by studying linguistics alongside one of the following languages:
You'll develop the spoken and written skills in your chosen language, and explore the cultures and histories of the countries where the language is spoken.
Developing expertise in linguistics will help you navigate the uniquely complex phenomenon of language. You'll explore language acquisition, structure and change, the mental and social processes that shape and sustain human interaction, as well as phonetics – the study of how speech sounds are physically produced.
Studying a language in parallel will enable you to ground these linguistic concepts and theories and compare them across languages in everyday use, using them to bolster your language learning.
You'll have a compulsory year abroad to develop your language skills and gain first-hand experience of living in another country.
In your final year, you'll develop a project on a topic of your choice to demonstrate the skills that stand out to employers.

Application deadline details:
Leeds was an amazing experience, probably the best student city in the UK. There’s no better feeling than whiling away the summers in Hyde Park with a cider and some good mates, and the nightlife is incredible – so many different student nights on, and the taxis are dirt cheap. A great bonding experience for all is The Otley Run – a 21 strong pub crawl that takes you into the city and how I forged some of my best friendships. In terms of the Uni, my course was amazing – loads of detailed lectures, secondary materials and passionate lecturers.
