Germany is one of the world's largest economies, and its language is widely spoken across Europe, especially in the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe.
A German degree from Leeds will allow you to become fluent in this powerful language while giving you a genuine insight into German culture and society – equipping you with valuable skills that make you highly attractive to employers.
You'll consolidate and develop your spoken and written German through core language modules. You will also choose from a wide range of optional modules including applied language (translation and language for professional purposes) and modules exploring various aspects of German culture, history and politics.
The size of our department allows us to offer flexible degrees with a wide variety of choice, and our active German Society contributes to a strong sense of community. With our expert tutors and great language facilities, at Leeds we can help you get to where you want to go.
Application deadline details:
Leeds was an amazing experience, probably the best student city in the UK. There’s no better feeling than whiling away the summers in Hyde Park with a cider and some good mates, and the nightlife is incredible – so many different student nights on, and the taxis are dirt cheap. A great bonding experience for all is The Otley Run – a 21 strong pub crawl that takes you into the city and how I forged some of my best friendships. In terms of the Uni, my course was amazing – loads of detailed lectures, secondary materials and passionate lecturers.
