This is for you if... you wish to study the most fundamental of the sciences. Physics is concerned with the study of matter and energy on all scales from the sub-atomic to the size of the cosmological. We are a top 5 Physics department (2017 Guardian League Table) and our degrees are accredited by the UK Institute of Physics (IOP).
Our course is very flexible: you can mix and match modules from different specialities (pure and applied physics, astrophysics, and space science and technology) to suit your interests and career aspirations as they develop throughout your time at university. For further details, see the full programme summary on our website by clicking on the âview course detailsâ link towards the top of this page.
You will be taught through a combination of lectures, small group tutorials, lab sessions, seminars, workshop classes and project work. Training in scientific computation and programming is built into each degree.
Assessment includes exams and course work (such as workshop and seminar problem classes). Lab work is primarily assessed in real time and project work is assessed through written reports and oral presentations.

My teachers at Leicester were incredible, offering a really dynamic, interesting course with loads of content, contact hours and plenty of opportunity to talk to them about any problems or concerns I had. They seriously made the uni experience so much easier for me! The uni itself is great too – the halls were really high quality, the Union has a load of events on as well as cheap coffee and a great place to hang out with your mates. The whole campus is really inviting and comfy, and everyone here was friendly and welcoming! I loved it here!
