Course details
Course UCAS code: H422
Qualification type:
  • MEng (Hon), Full-time , Duration: 5 Years
Course Summary:
The main aerospace engineering topics you’ll study include aerodynamics, aero structures, flight dynamics and control, propulsion systems, communications, avionics and aircraft materials. The programmes include a two day flight test course in a Jetstream aircraft. Our Aerospace Engineering degree programmes are double accredited (by the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers). This programme is available with a Year in China. The Year in China allows undergraduate students the opportunity to spend one year at our joint venture, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), following XJTLU's BA China Studies degree classes. XJTLU is a fully English-speaking university, located in Suzhou. If you wish to study this programme with a Year in China please put the option code YC in the Further Choices section of your UCAS application form. **Work placement/Year in industry** - Students are encouraged to gain relevant work experience to enhance their employability by applying for a summer internship or a year placement with an approved company/organisation. MEng and BEng with a year in industry programmes will be available to new (Home/EU) entrants from 2019-20. Whilst the School of Engineering and the University will provide the necessary support and guidance, it is the responsibility of the student to secure an industrial placement. Applicants should note that industrial placements are highly sought after and competition to be accepted into one can be significant. They therefore cannot be guaranteed. Students who fail to secure a suitable placement offer will transfer back to the standard version of the programme without a year in industry.

I was so surprised by my time in Liverpool! I wasn’t expecting such a culturally vibrant and exciting city! I’m a theatre nut, so having the Everyman on my doorstep was an incredible opportunity to learn and expand my horizons. The scousers are also incredibly warm and friendly, and between the vast numbers of students and locals you’ll make loads of new friends. The course was hugely enjoyable, with varied and dynamic lecturers who are constantly pushing you academically, and the SU helps students out in a myriad of ways.

Great location, teaching, facilities. The city is perfect for students! The only bugbear I have is the price of the accommodation but private housing is relatively cheap so you do make a saving in 2nd, 3rd year etc.

Apart from constantly having no money I love it!
