Course details
Course UCAS code: D400
Qualification type:
  • BSc (Hons), Full-time , Duration: 3 Years
Course Summary:
By studying Agriculture at the University of Nottingham, you can specialise in agriculture-specific modules from day one. You'll learn the scientific fundamentals through to the practicalities of business management in agricultural and related industries and apply what you've learnt to real-life case studies and farms. Some of your time will be spent engaging in practical activities at the University Farm where we have extensive arable, dairy, sheep, woodland and environmental stewardship enterprises. You can also choose to add an extra year studying Computer Science at Nottingham, taken after year two. Our degrees are flexible and you can focus on what interests you – whether it's crops, livestock or business, or even a combination.
Modules:
The first year provides an essential base of knowledge in agricultural sciences and business. Applied modules covering agricultural systems, grassland management, the ecology of natural and managed ecosystems. Employability and research skills put the science into context with the current situation on farms. In the second year you will study core applied modules in animal production, crop production, business management and marketing and related subjects such as soil science. You can choose from a range of optional modules, for example in our Enterprise Management Challenge module you grow and manage your own crop of wheat. In year three, your research project provides an opportunity to participate in the work of one of the country's top agricultural research centres based at Sutton Bonington.

Highly recommended as Nottingham is such a great city, surrounded by lovely greenery. The university is also extremely huge!

I think the Uni is one of the best in the UK. Taking into account what the city has to offer and the provisions made by the university, staff enthusiasm and a focus on students needs, I am very happy I chose this uni over others.
