This degree will equip you with a broad knowledge of physics, incorporating modules from the wider discipline of physics and astronomy with specialist modules in theoretical understanding. Our academic staff within physics and astrophysics are world-renowned leaders of their respective fields. Furthermore, your studies will be enhanced by access to outstanding resources and facilities. These include optical and radio telescopes and astrophysical supercomputing facilities.
Your first year will provide you with the fundamental theories and ideas underpinning physics and astronomy, as well as basic mathematical principles. In your second year, you will begin to specialise in the theoretical side of physics and astrophysics, by taking specialised theoretical physics modules. This will continue in your third year, where you also undertake your own theoretical astrophysics project.
