Msci (Hon), Full-time With Time Abroad
, Duration: 4 Years
Combine the same broad range of topics available to natural sciences students with an additional year spent studying abroad at one of our partner institutions. The course provides a multidisciplinary programme on which you study three subjects in the first year and then two science subjects to degree level. The year abroad enables you to broaden your knowledge and gain a new perspective in your chosen subjects alongside getting to experience a different culture and find out what it is like to live and study overseas. On your return you will spend most of your fourth year designing and implementing an independent research project. You will gain hands-on experience using our modern facilities to develop transferable skills for future employment.
During the first year you will choose a three-subject pathway from the 13 available studying 40 credits of each subject. Lecture-based modules are supported by smaller group classes, practical laboratory work, problem-solving classes and field-work. You will continue two of your first year subjects during the second year in greater depth. You will take 60 credits of modules from each subject. Students will spend the third year of their degree overseas. In your fourth year you will continue with the same two subjects studied in the second year taking 50 credits in each. You will choose one of your fourth-year subjects to focus on in the fifth year, spending half your time working on an independent research project.
