This course combines mathematics and physics modules, tailored to ensure that both strands are taught to degree level. You will be taught by world-class academic staff, whose cutting-edge research projects inspire the modules that you will take, pushing the frontiers of mathematics and physics. In your third year you will design and implement your very own long-term project, gaining hands-on experience and exploring a particular area of mathematical physics that is of interest to you.
In your first year, you will gain a solid grounding in the core principles of mathematics and physics through a diverse and comprehensive range of modules. Your second year will cover the classical theories of physics such as electromagnetism and quantum mechanics as well as the mathematical language in which these theories are expressed, such as vector calculus and Fourier theory. In your final year, you will undertake your own research project and study a further rage of optional modules in both mathematics and physics.
