This course gives you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of physics, whilst specialising particularly in the theoretical elements. Our teaching staff work at the cutting edge of research in physics, and inspire a wide range of modules throughout the course. They will guide you in exploring not only the core elements of physics, but also the key ideas and main mathematical and computational techniques of theoretical physics. You will be encouraged throughout the course to develop your own ideas and apply them to the world of physics, engaging critically with theory and learning to think like a true physicist.
During your first year you will gain a foundation of knowledge in physics, with the Frontiers in Physics module giving an introduction to an array of specialised topics. In your second year, you will begin to specialise further in the mathematical elements of physics by taking specialised theoretical physics modules. You will continue these in your final year, where you will enjoy a range of optional modules in physics and theoretical physics. In addition, you will undertake an individual project.
