Course Summary:
This Chemistry MSci degree provides an in-depth study of all of the major branches of chemistry, and a comprehensive grounding in modern, practical synthetic and analytical chemistry. In addition to the core chemistry modules students have a choice of specialist optional modules in areas such as medicinal chemistry, molecular modelling, drug discovery and green chemistry. Part of your final year will involve a research project in which you will continue to develop your practical ability, team working and problem solving skills. In addition, the assessed third year gives you an opportunity to work on a research project in a research laboratory of a major chemical company located either in the UK or in mainland Europe where you will be a salaried employee.
During your first year you will chemical knowledge and understanding that builds upon your pre-university studies and will be able to study a range of optional modules. In your second year, theoretical and practical modules build on the knowledge and understanding gained in the first year. The third year gives you an opportunity to work on a research project in a laboratory in a chemical company and distance-learning theory modules will develop you core chemistry knowledge. In the final year each student will undertake a major research project in Nottingham. Project topics currently range from biological chemistry through materials chemistry to surface science and on to laser chemistry and computational chemistry.

    I love my university experience, and my friends all seem to as well, but obviously that's because everything I need/like can be found here and there are so many people I can just chill with or do something with. Can't imagine being anywhere else.
