Course Summary:
Oriental Studies has a long history in Oxford. The Bodleian and other libraries have acquired magnificent collections. The Oriental Institute, Institute for Chinese Studies, Bodleian Japanese and Indian Institute Libraries are all specialists in their respective fields. Around the corner from the Oriental Institute is the Ashmolean Museum, which houses superb collections. The Sackler Library contains the renowned Griffith Library, one of the finest libraries in the world for the study of ancient Egypt and the Ancient Near East. There are so many great things to say about Oxford, from its incredibly generous bursaries, to the world-renowned tutorial system, to the plethora of libraries. The city is picturesque and beautiful, whether it is snowy or sunny weather, and full of discounts for students eager for a cheap lunch or a good bargain. The collegiate system is an intimate, personalised learning experience. Best thought of as dorms, colleges are where you eat, sleep and socialise! They all have their own balls and quirks, which are great fun. It is a practically unrivaled life and educational experience.
Oxford has a really great social environment and it's a good place to meet people from all over the world who share your interests. The amount and the quality of teaching is also really good.
