Course Summary:
The Foundation course in Forensic Science is for students who don't meet the entry for the BSc (Hons) Forensic Science degree. You'll start by completing a foundation year, which provides well structured support, allowing you to develop your scientific skills and knowledge. Accredited by The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, this Forensic Science course has a strong focus on employability and you'll study the entire process from crime scene to court. You will be trained in standard practices and techniques used in crime scene investigation, as well as laboratory analysis of evidence and its interpretation. You'll study specialist branches of forensic science, including anthropology, fire investigation and toxicology. USW's Forensic Science course has a very strong scientific base, which means you'll be employable in a number of scientific sectors. Our Forensic Science courses are based at our Glyntaff campus. USW Glyntaff is surrounded by green open spaces. Our students say they love the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful views. Home to our health, nursing, police, sport and science students, Glyntaff has state-of-the-art facilities including the latest science laboratories and a Crime Scene House for forensic investigation. I was on the Cardiff campus, and it’s such a lovely city. There’s loads of great clubs, like Clwb Ifor Bach (That’s ‘The Welsh Club) holds loads of different nights, or Full Moon across the road if you fancy seeing some great local bands. There’s also the world’s oldest record shop, Spillers, which is an amazing way to burn through your student loan, as well as some lovely restaurants in the Castle and Morgan Arcades. The course was amazing too, felt very welcome and was able to grow academically thanks to the fantastic teachers.
