BSc (Hons), Full-time Including Foundation Year
, Duration: 4 Years
**BSc Nursing Studies (Registered Nurse Mental Health Nursing) with Foundation Year**
Surrey is one of the UKâs top universities for nursing, ranked 3rd in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2018 and in the top 10 of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
Weâre always looking for ways to make it easier to access the education we offer, so we have launched the option of a foundation year. A foundation year is an extra year of study designed to support your transition on to a full degree course.
As a student on the foundation year you will begin to explore the basic concepts of clinical theory while building on your academic skills alongside team building and communication skills. Youâll have opportunities to take part in simulated practice learning in our Simulation Suite and complete taster sessions within clinical practice.
Itâs a great option if:
- You donât have the grades for a full degree course
- You have non-traditional qualifications or experience
- Youâre starting university after some time away from education
- Youâre looking for more support during your transition into university study.
During a foundation year youâll learn about your chosen subject, develop your study skills and get used to university life. After successfully completing your foundation year, youâll be ready to begin your full BSc degree course.
As a foundation year student, youâll be a full student of the University and part of our community. Youâll have access to all our campus facilities and support, and youâll be able to live in our student accommodation on campus.

University life in Guildford is really great, the town and campus are warm and inviting, with a nice intimate vibe. Everyone here is so friendly and looks out for everyone else, it’s so refreshing. There's plenty to do it in the city, bear in mind some clubs can charge a fair bit on weekends, so stick to the student nights. The teaching is really strong, with approachable staff, good support on your assignments and a great library.
