BSc (Hons), Full-time Including Foundation Year
, Duration: 4 Years
BSc(Hons) Psychology with Criminology (with Foundation Year) is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), so if you major in psychology youâll get the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with your degree. Thatâs the initial recognised standard you need to become a practising psychologist.
Built around the core BPS curriculum, the course will help you apply academic knowledge to real-world situations â learning from internationally-recognised researchers and practitioners. Youâll study advanced psychological methods and gain valuable transferable skills, becoming a strong communicator and problem solver.
The course is taught by internationally acclaimed psychologists and researchers. Participate in student and staff research projects through our faculty research centres such as the Psychological Sciences Research Group and the internationally- renowned Centre for Appearance Research.
Hands-on experience with contemporary topics and approaches in practical sessions will deepen your knowledge further. Youâll be mentored by a personal tutor and complete an independent research project in an area of interest in your final year.
The course will equip you with the strong transferable skills employers are looking for. You could go on to work in healthcare, law enforcement, finance, IT, research, government, education, the creative industries or the legal sector. Many students also progress to postgraduate study and research degrees.

It's just like Skins… Seriously though, Bristol's got so much on, there's loads of street art, all the independent shops are so cool, and you can cycle everywhere. Everyone is so chilled out and lovely! The first year accommodation was also amazing, so lively and close to campus. Pro-tip = The Frenchay Farmer’s Market is great to pick up cheap fruit and veg. The uni also gave the opportunity to study a year abroad in Grenada, which was seriously the highlight of my degree. And Darth Vader went to school here!
