Course Summary:
BA(Hons) English Literature with Writing gives you the chance to explore English literary culture from the Renaissance to the present day, while developing and enhancing your writing - both creative and professional. Refine your writing skills – focusing on areas such as advertising, marketing and PR, health and social issues, public service broadcasting, journalism and fiction. Learn from published writers and leading researchers in a collaborative and supportive community. Work with experts in the industry to hone your skills through feedback and advice. You’ll study at Frenchay Campus and have plenty of opportunities to enjoy Bristol's vibrant culture, playing your part in a creative exchange between the University and the city. Gain experience with our vibrant cultural partners such as the BBC, Watershed, the Arnolfini and local literary festivals and sharpen your skills writing for UWE Bristol student media. Publications include the Western Eye and Westworld, blogs such as UWE Bristol Lingo, and the English Society's Cellar Door magazine. Your expertise in the written word is needed in every sector. You’ll have a wealth of experience writing for traditional and digital platforms, so you’ll be highly employable. It's just like Skins… Seriously though, Bristol's got so much on, there's loads of street art, all the independent shops are so cool, and you can cycle everywhere. Everyone is so chilled out and lovely! The first year accommodation was also amazing, so lively and close to campus. Pro-tip = The Frenchay Farmer’s Market is great to pick up cheap fruit and veg. The uni also gave the opportunity to study a year abroad in Grenada, which was seriously the highlight of my degree. And Darth Vader went to school here!
