Course Summary:
This course can be studied in our Swansea SA1 campus or our Carmarthen campus, depending on which location the student prefers. Early Years Education and Care (2 years) is designed for those already working in the childcare and education sector, and allows them to study flexibly around their work commitments. Lectures are delivered in evenings and occasional Saturdays in order to enable students to carry on working while completing their degree and students will develop their understanding of the practice and theory of early years education and care giving them a full and rounded understanding of the subject. The programme has been developed to provide opportunities for learning about all aspects of young children’s education and care. The programme gives opportunities to link practical activities and experiences in the work environment to theories relating to children’s education and care. Learning takes place through group discussions, workshops, study visits as well as lectures in order to develop a knowledge and understanding of a range of relevant topics. There is an emphasis on hands-on learning in order to support understanding of the links between theory and practice within the early years. Swansea is such a great place to live! There are student nights on all the time. Head down the legendary Wind Street for an instant great night out! The campus feels really modern and up to date, and the teachers are very helpful and accommodating. The town has a gorgeous beach when the weather perks up and there are some good shops about too – just be careful of the cabbies, they like to take the mick out of freshers…

If you are looking for a somewhat quiet, not a mainstream city university then the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s is for you. It has an amazing range of courses to offer and within that course a huge range of modules to pick.

10/10 I am really enjoying myself and I suffer with anxiety so takes me a while to settle in to places, especially when they are so big! But I have settled in extremely well and quickly here.
