Philosophy is arguably the oldest university subject and has the widest field, with philosophers asking fundamental questions about values, culture, science, religion and society. As such it sits at the heart of any university, engaging with and enriching other programmes, but it has a special role at our university pledged to pioneering valuesâdriven education and asking big questions about human existence.
This new BA (Hons) Philosophy programme will offer modules on a range of core philosophical areas such as logic, epistemology, philosophy of language and aesthetics.

Winchester was such a pretty, lovely place to study. It’s a real community oriented university, you’ll get to know everyone here which is great. The nightlife isn’t crazy like, say, Brighton, there are a few nice clubs here, The SU throws the Bop every Wednesday is bloody mental, and if you want to have a really good night out you can get a cheap taxi down to Southampton. My tutors were really supportive, and they drove me to the best of my ability - they offered great feedback and were always available for a chat.
