English and Philosophy

Username: toddlers crossword

Year of Study: 2nd year

Typical Week:

Monday:

9am - come into uni with my bf, drink coffee and read a magazine, do my seminar work, have some breakfast/lunch. sometimes go to the ic and work if i have an essay due 1pm-4pm - seminar and lectures 4pm-6pm - get picked up by bf and go do weekly food shop at Asda 6pm onwards - put shopping away/cook and eat tea/watch telly/have a nap

Tuesday:

Lectures/seminars 12-4, sometimes head in early again and get some seminar work done 4 onwards - head home, generally doss away the evening until my bf goes out to work tuesday club, then i do my weekly webct posts, maybe do a bit of reading if I'm feeling studious, then often end up watching crap like freaky eaters/nightwatch with steve scott/watchdog and all the other random stuff they put on in the middle of the night till my bf gets home about 4am. sometimes he brings chips with garlic mayonaise which I then eat half of, yum yum

Wednesday:

8.45 - attempt to wake up several times, press snooze repeatedly 9.20 - force myself out of bed after falling back to sleep again, just about have time to get dressed and brush my teeth 9.35 - leave house 10.00 - arrive breathless to my lecture, because have just done a 40 min walk in 25 min (generally try and fit some drinking some coffee in there somewhere if I can) 12 - finish lectures Afternoon - one or other of these things: have lunch with my friend/do some work in the ic/go shopping/ go home and sleep all afternoon Evening - not really doing much

Thursday:

10-11: Into uni, have some coffee or juice while reading a magazine or occasionally my course book 11-12: seminar 12-1.30ish - lunch in Interval with my boyfriend. 1.30 onwards: quite often realise what a tip the room is and attempt to tidy up slightly, chuck out rubbish etc. Apart from that, generally enjoy having finished uni for the week, and do no work. Prob watch a dvd in the evening and go to bed at about 3am for no apparent reason.

Friday: Sleep. Lots of sleep. Generally wake up in the afternoon and then realise its too late to do anything with the day.

Weekend: Is either major panic if I have an essay for Monday, or major doss if I don't. sometimes going to a birthday thing or party on sat night. Apart from that just do whatever I want, don't really have a routine.

Alternative activites: Every so often I fill my evenings with the following activities: Fuzz club on a Thursday, house parties, bar crawls down West St, going to Bar One, going to a gig, going to the cinema, Corp school disco on a Wed, going to some random other club. I'll probably do one of these things every couple of weeks.

Law

1st Year

Username: choccielatte

Year of Study: 1st year

Typical Week:

Monday: Get up about 8, have a lecture from 10-11. Tend to go to the IC/Western Bank Library until about 1pm, then head to Chaplaincy for lunch. Lectures again from 2 til 5 (or six, if there's a guest lecture that day). Go home, eat and work till about midnight.

Tuesday: Up at 8 again, lectures from 10-12. Grab some lunch and more lectures from 1-3. Might head to Chaplaincy in the afternoon for a bit and then either go home or to the Library and work. Eat if I have time in the evening. Occasionally go to a society meeting.

Wednesday: Have one seminar at midday every other week which means I'll be working all morning on preparing. Otherwise, I use the day to clean up, catch up on reading and go to Chaplaincy. Evenings spent working too - if it's a mooting week, I'll be at Law school from 5-7 doing that.

Thursday: Seminar from 4-5 every other week - time will be spent preparing for that. Otherwise, more reading and note-taking. Much the same as Wednesdays. If I'm mooting, I'll be working on Skeleton arguments to be submitted for noon on Fridays.

Friday: Have a Colloquia/Seminar from 11-1pm, and tend to have a relaxed working day. Might do my laundry and an online workbook. Sometimes go for a night out or to a friends for a few hours... But it depends if I'm tired!

Saturday : Have a lie-in or go swimming/bouldering in the morning, grab a Starbucks, do shopping/clean my room, catch up with work and might go to Pop Tarts at the Union at night. More often or not, will wind down with one of my hobbies.

Sunday: Go to Chaplaincy for Mass at 11, and stay till about 2. Get home and organise the next weeks pile of work to be done and grab a head start.

Medicine

Username: emma_wemma

Year of Study: 1st year

'Typical Week:

MONDAY:

(Timetable changes every week) Usually 9 o'clock starts, mostly at the med school with lecures say 9-12. Usually a bit of a break, so either have lunch at the union with friends, pop into town, or head back to halls if it's a longer break. Head back to afternoon lectures, normally finish at 5. Some breaks are online practicals, some are private study for SSC's (student selected components) Monday nights aren't the best night of the week to go out, so unless it's a birthday or something probably a quiet night in. Don't do as much work as I should be.

TUESDAY:

Normally lectures 9-10.50, then dissection in the dissecting room 11-1ish, really interesting! Makes your clothes smell funny though - bad times! DR is next to the main libraries so usually pick up/drop off books when down in that area. Usually an hour or two break then more lovely lectures. Some weeks we have Clinical Skills in the morning, which lasts 2 hours approx and is good fun (like BP, pulse, temp, basic life support etc etc).

WEDNESDAY:

Have ILA group meeting every 2 weeks - youre given a patient scenario and some learning objectives, and basically this meeting is where you share what you've found and check it's correct. Weds afternoon normally off - usually just chill out at home with the flatmates, and possibly go to Roar - it's a good night out but tickets sell out in a day! Try and get work done if not going out, probably ILA or SSC work.

THURSDAY:

There's an online test to do about the ILA every other week (week after meeting), so try and get that done today. Some weeks we have the morning off as well. Thursday is best night for going out IMO - all the major medic socials are on Thursdays, and then there's Plug (aaaace!) and the comedy club at union. Head to predrinks first.

FRIDAY:

definitely feel effects of Thursdays... :) Almost always an early start. We have a formative assessment on Fridays, we use little zapper things to answer questions on stuff we've learned during the week, but it's quite chilled out so you can diuss answers and stuff. Fridays and the weekend are quite expensive (except Union!) so tend not to go out tonight, maybe try and get some work done at home.

SATURDAY:

I have a job... work 9-3.30 at a supermarket, head home and maybe have a nap if going to Pop Tarts tonight (best union night IMO, and full of medics :D) but if not going out usually procrastinate and chill out with the flatmates, and doing laundry/cleaning room etc.

SUNDAY:

Work again 11-5.30, head home and generally just relax, sometimes do pub quiz over at the bar. Check timetable for next week...
