Whether you're applying to university or for a job students should be thinking how they can STAND OUT.

The best way to do this is to demonstrate that you have skills/experience over and above basic academic qualifications, this demonstrates initiative and a degree of commitment to peruse that academic or career direction.


This message was recently eched by Universities Minister David Willetts quoted in The Times:

If you missed a place this year at university..."try to broaden your experience and apply next year. Rather than just take a gap year, think about things you can do which will strengthen your CV, Admissions tutors will advise on this."
