TSR Model House of Commons was started in 2005 following the 2005 General Election. In the run up to that election, a series of political parties were set up on the forums. These parties fought each other for the votes of the forum members, writing and debating statements on topical issues. This culminated in an election on the forum, which was held to coincide with the real election in early May 2005. These elections results were used for the make up of Parliament I.

For further information on the history of the House, please consult MHoC: History (Parties, Independents, Positions) and MHoC: History (Ministers, Cabinets, Privy Council).

Coalition proceedings collapsed when the Conservative Party disputed the constitutional legitimacy of a three-party coalition; given only two-party coalitions had formed prior to this point and given the vagueness of the Constitution at the time. As such, whether the intended Liberal Democrat / Socialist / Labour coalition or the intended Conservative / Libertarian coalition should be allowed to form government was a hotly contested issue. The sitting Speaker, daniel_williams, decided to annul government in order to allow the Constitution to be clarified without partisan interference; the result of this constitutional crisis was that no government sat for the duration of the term.

In December 2011, the Centre Party became inactive, having formed an unofficial agreement that all remaining active members would be guaranteed places within the with the Liberal Democrat Party. This saw the former lose the three seats it had secured for Parliament XIV. In February of 2012, an amendment was passed to allow for the Speaker to hold a by-election for all of the empty seats. The Model House of Common's Fourteenth Parliament By-election was held in March 2012.

By-Election III

Following the suspension of independent MP Internetguru from the House a by-election was held in January 2013.

The election was contested by three candidates, representing three separate blocs of parties. The governing Labour-Socialist coalition fielded Superunknown17, and were initially endorsed by the Green Party. However, the latter switched allegiance to the Liberal Democrat candidate, Stanlas2, prior to the start of the election. This caused a lot of controversy during the election debate, with a great deal of acrimonious arguing between Government and Green Party MPs. The Conservative candidate won the election, lending weight to the accusation that the Green Party split the left-of-centre vote.

By-Election VI

In March 2016, the Speaker stripped the TSR Green Party and TSR Liberal Party of an MP seat each due to the results of the voting review. The approach whereby the voting percentage of the seat rather than the individual was measured made for a stricter review. In the ensuing by-election The Financier stood endorsed by the TSR Conservative and Unionist Party (having resigned as a Conservative MP the previous week), Hydeman stood endorsed by the TSR National Liberal Party (this being the first election ever contested by the National Liberals), JoeL1994 stood as an independent (having recently left the TSR Liberal Party) and Gladiator12345 stood with the endorsement of the TSR Socialist Party.

The by-election saw The Financier and Gladiator12345 elected as MPs.

By-Election IX

In October 2016 the Labour Party (JTran38) and the Liberal Party (Imperion) each lost one seat due to insufficient turnout.
