Projectile questions in the Edexcel AS Physics examination can be quite tricky. The questions are usually not full questions but part of a question. There is atleast one question on projectiles in every question paper. Quite often the student does not know the question is about projectiles I advise my students to tackle projectile questions by finding out if there is a horizontal motion and a vertical motion. Sometimes this is tricky because at the initial point there is no vertical motion. Hence a body projected horizontally under the action of gravity will be a projectile. A good idea would be to draw a free body diagram for all motion questions and check out if both horizontal and vertical forces are acting on the body Once the student has identified that it is a projectile using the equations of motion the range and other parameters can be calculated.
