Usage

To use the header, copy the following into the top of the article: {{header|header=|protected=|linkback=|homepage=|homepagelink=|image=|sections=}}

Then, add parameters after the "=" signs according to what you want to display (as per below) to customise the appearance of the template. If you want default template behaviour, remove the text before the "=" signs (and the = itself). If this is too complicated or you want a basic starting point to build on, use:

{{header|header=Welcome to The Student Room's section Wiki|linkback= }}

for main pages, and

{{header|homepage=main wiki section|homepagelink=link to main wiki section page}}

for article pages within a section. You could even simply use

{{header}}

which is basic, but a fair start.

header

Description: The large text that appears in the centre of the dark-background header.
Example usage: header=Technology and Computers Forum Guidelines
What the example would display: Technology and Computers Forum Guidelines
Default (if the parameter is excluded): The Article's Title

protected

Description: Whether or not a padlock is displayed in the header, with tooltip text advising to post in Ask a Moderator if an edit needs to be made.
Example usage: protected={{padlock}}
What the example would display: This article is write protected. If you think something needs editing on this page, you should start a thread in Ask a Moderator
Default (if the parameter is excluded): No padlock will display

linkback

Description: The small white text that appears to the left of the dark-background header.
Example usage: linkback= 
What the example would display: The linkback text will not display
Default (if the parameter is excluded): < Back to the section homepage

homepage

Description: As long as the linkback parameter is not disabled, this will control what is shown in the white linkback text. Therefore this parameter should be the name of the wiki section, or similar.
Example usage: homepage=Tech Wiki
What the example would display: < Back to the Tech Wiki homepage
Default (if the parameter is excluded): < Back to the section homepage

homepagelink

Description: As long as the linkback parameter is not disabled, this will control what the white linkback text displays. Therefore this parameter should be the URL to the wiki section's main page.
Example usage: homepagelink=http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Computing_and_Technology
What the example would display: < Back to the section homepage
Default (if the parameter is excluded): < Back to the section homepage

image

Description: The image/logo that appears below the header's main text.
Example usage: image=http://static.tsrfiles.co.uk/w/images/f/f3/Techwikishort.png
What the example would display: Techwikishort.png
Default (if the parameter is excluded): No image will display

sections

Description: The sections that appear below the header's main text or logo. This can be used as a table of contents or links to similar resources.
Example usage: page sections='''[[#Preamble|Preamble]] • [[#tl;dr|tl;dr]] • [[#Things to avoid|Things to avoid]] • [[#Things to do|Things to do]] • [[#Get involved!|Get involved!]]'''
What the example would display: Preambletl;drThings to avoidThings to doGet involved!
Default (if the parameter is excluded): No section links will display
