if 0.5 moles of CO reacts then 0.5 moles of Cl2 has reacted leaving 2-0.5 moles of Cl2 - so this means how much COCl2 is formed?

0.5 moles CO has reacted with 1.5 moles of Cl2 to form 2 moles of COCl2?

no, wait. to form 1 mole of COCl2
Sorry I posted that wrong, my bad (fixed). 1.5 moles of Cl2 remains and so 0.5 moles of COCl2 has been formed, this is because there is a 1:1 ratio in the chemical equation - so for every molecule of CO2 reacts - you get one molecule of COCl2 (and lose one molecules of Cl2).
