I am currently working a huge project called "the atom project". There is a wide range of material which I have to cover; and I am working through it.
I am having trouble understanding the concept of "electron spin" and quantum numbers.
I would be extremely grateful if you could explain them to me.
Thank you
There are two energy states that an electron can have within an orbital and each produces an equal and opposite magnetic field. It is as if the two electrons are spinning in opposite directions. These 'spin states' are assigned values of plus and minus one half, so that the difference between them is one quantum of energy.
