Regarding Hess's Law is ΔHf of Ethane the same as the Enthalpy of Combustion

I have a revision question asking me to draw the energy cycle for the formation of Ethane C2H6 and use given values.

Would this just be a combustion energy cycle

So you have. 2C + 3H2 ------> C2H6
\ /
\ /
v v
2CO2 + 3H2O

Therefore ΔHf + ΔH1 = ΔH2 + ΔH3

Therefore ΔHf = ΔH2 + ΔH3 - ΔH1

Or would it be different?

There seems to be information missing from your post, but your algebra at the end is correct. Not that I know what it applies to.
