I'm a little confused about this, but is the value on the colorimeter the amount of light absorbed by the solution and so the value will be higher as concentration of a solution increases OR is the value the wavelengths that passed through the solution and so as this value increases the lower the concentrate of the solution being tested ...? I'm not really sure about this

Depends on the colorimeter, but there is usually one scale for transmittance (tranmission) and another for absorbance, where:
