Oil and Gas Industry job prospects in Aberdeen
I am an international student with a degree in Petroleum Engineering from India (from a Uni not so well known in the world) and would be pursuing M.Sc in Oil and Gas Enterprise Management degree at University of Aberdeen from Sept 2019. I also have almost 3 years of experience of working on Offshore Platforms.
What would the prospects be after I graduate? Will I be able to land a job there in the North Sea's Oil Industry? I know this is purely subjective, but I want to know how harsh the market is up there. Will a degree from a top Uni like Aberdeen help? do they have work placements?

I saw your thread about job prospects. The market in the energy sector varies quite considerably yearly, depending on multiple factors as I am sure you know. It may be useful for you to contact the careers service on campus as they may have an idea about placements, internships and general job prospects currently available in the sector locally. There are also plenty of associations such as The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers and Oil and Gas UK which is situated in Aberdeen to find out more about market conditions from reports and industry news. You may be able to register with a specialist recruiter in this sector and it is worth contacting the businesses themselves to get a placement set up so that you get contacts and you build your industry experience. Good luck! There will be plenty of trade shows and other industry events on in the city and oil and gas related events in the university. Make as many connections as you can whilst you are here!
